INDONESIA

SCHOLARS OF SUSTENANCE

SOS Indonesia (Yayasan Derma Atas Pangan) is a Bali-based nonprofit, founded in 2016, focused on reducing food waste and hunger. Operating primarily in high-tourism areas like Sanur, Kuta, Denpasar, and Legian, SOS collects surplus food from hotels, supermarkets, bakeries, farms, and manufacturers. Using motorcycles and cooling trucks to navigate Bali’s busy streets, SOS efficiently distributes this food to those in need.

In early 2023, SOS expanded to Jakarta to extend its reach, aiming to partner with more businesses in Indonesia's capital to combat food waste and hunger on a larger scale.

Since 2016, data as of October 2024
